On October 14, 2012, an Austrian parachutist made that incredible jump from a height of 39 km.

According to the corrected data presented by Die Welt newspaper, the flight took place from an altitude of 38,969.4 m. The parachutist successfully landed near Roswell, New Mexico. Four more Baumgartner records were set at the event: highest unbarred flight, longest freefall distance, highest stratostat flight, and fastest freefall speed of 1,357.6 km/h.

This jump has brought great success to the Red Bull company.

It not only challenged human physical and psychological endurance, but also became a source of valuable information for a number of scientific researches, which may have a great impact on improving the process of space flight in the future.

The jump was streamed live on YouTube, garnering 52 million views.
